Bags2school in Strachan

Strachan School has organised a Bag2School collection for Tuesday 27th September. This is a great way of raising money for the school and for getting rid of unwanted clothing, curtains, soft toys, etc. (Please tie shoes together)The school is paid by the weight of the items collected and everyone is welcome to get involved. The more we collect, the more we raise.Collection bags are available from the school, but you can also use your own bags. Please have bags at the school by 9am on the 27th.Bag2School collects good quality second hand adults and children`s clothing, sheets, blankets, curtains, soft toys, shoes, belts and handbags. All items collected are for RE-USE.
All clothing collected by Bag2School is sold, either sorted or un-sorted, to importers and wholesalers in many countries of Eastern and Western Europe, Africa and Asia.
Regardless of whether clothes are given to charities, clothing banks, council collections or Bag2School this is where the goods are all sold. 80 % of discarded clothing goes for reuse as clothes and the other 20 % enters the recycling industry for bed manufacture, socks, blankets and the industrial wiper trade. The only alternative to this is for the goods to go to a landfill site.If you want any more information on the project, look at their website: http://www.bag2school.com
